IRON SHARPENS IRON AND ONE MAN SHARPENS ANOTHER
by Virginia L (Canada RC)
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17 (ESV)
MSI Canada’s regional centre (RC) has been blessed with four team members who are spread out across the country, and also hail from very different backgrounds in terms of career and life stage. Together, we bring diverse experiences and perspectives to the team. This collaboration often leads to insights, ideas and solutions that we may not have considered otherwise, and so this helps us cover each other’s blind spots. On the other hand, because we work with others who don’t share our training or assumptions, we have learnt to always keep an open mind, to set aside time to ask for input and confirm our understanding before we make decisions—as a team.
Our team has also been undergoing a transition period, with the baton being passed from older, more experienced members to a newer, younger team. This is what MSI Canada needs as we face significant changes in the field and at home in many different areas. Our veterans can provide advice and counsel based on their wisdom and experience, while our younger colleagues, used to constant change, can pivot with ease, given their technological aptitude, adaptability, resilience and intelligence.
Canada is a multi-cultural society made up of many cultural and ethnic groups. As a result of the diversity in our team, God has given us unique opportunities to connect with and mobilise different groups of brothers and sisters coming from different contexts: first generation Chinese, local-born members from medical and other professions, and people from all stages of life, hailing from across Canada! We praise God for the relationships that have been formed and the seeds that have been planted, and pray that God will continue to use all of us in MSI globally to further His Kingdom in East Asia!
