I am a big fan of basketball. I have noticed that a team can win some games by letting a few star players take the lead. Yet the most successful teams are not a collection of stars who play for their own recognition, but rather a group of well-coached talented players who carry out sacrifices for the good of the whole team. Teams only become great when teammates trust and rely on each other to cover weaknesses and accentuate strengths. Furthermore, a basketball team is indeed made up of the players on the court, but also includes a large group of people operating in the background: the coach, assistant coaches, strength trainers, physical therapists, general manager and owners.

Similarly, MSI places high value on teamwork. In this Bulletin, we highlight four teams from mobilisation and the field. Also included is an administrative department, where MSI Canada is forming a multigenerational new team—younger, energetic newcomers alongside faithful, experienced elders. From the field, MSI Yunnan likens a team to heavenly bodies, held in balance by opposing forces, and our Zhaojue team highlights how long-termers are working together with local Yi teammates on an agricultural project. Then, behind the scenes and out of the spotlight, our finance team ensures the smooth operation of our projects and allows our organisation to stay in compliance with local laws.
