GOAT MILK PROGRAMME

By Sunshine H

At first, the goat milk programme was just an experiment. Nobody knew how it would turn out, or had any expectations. Yet as the experiment progressed, we gradually realised that not only did this programme have great growth potential, it also created opportunities. A consumer market slowly formed and several enterprises were ready to participate. As a result, our co-organisers also hope that this experiment will carry on.

Right now, the beneficiary is just one family, with the farmer responsible for raising the sheep. Still, this programme has yet to really benefit his family. He has five children, and is also taking care of his brother’s child, who is an orphan. The programme has not made much difference to his day-to-day life because the goat-milk market has just started and not all of it can be sold. However, he is willing to carry on with the business because he sees that regular customers are increasing—from zero to one, from one to two. His income is gradually being secured. He can even see a future where he can grow his finances. Furthermore, he wants to apply for a loan to scale up the business and produce more goat milk. If this can become a business, it might inspire more farmers, and even impact the economic development of the whole area.

Because this experimental programme is limited by certain restrictions, it cannot transition smoothly from an experimental phase to an industry development phase. We are hoping and waiting for a suitable person to take over, form a company, expand the market and launch the product. All these aspects are far beyond the range of MSI’s services. We can only provide professional consultation and are not allowed to participate directly in conducting business activities. If anyone of you, brothers or sisters, are interested in this programme, please contact us!
