EXPANDING SERVICES SCOPE OF HOPE CLUBHOUSE

by Eva Y

At the end of last year, Hope Clubhouse Rehabilitation Centre successfully acquired the right to run a practical training project for the community rehabilitation workers who serve people with mental disorders. In mid-February this year, the first phase of theoretical courses was successfully launched, with more than one hundred and twenty social workers receiving intensive training.

During the class, trainees participated actively in the discussions and raised challenges they face in their work, such as the difficulties people recovering from mental disorders have when returning to society and entering the workforce, discrimination against them by members of society, the lack of community resources, poor service coordination and the lack of motivation of recovering patients and their families to be rehabilitated and to work, etc. All these are real challenges, and we hope that the trainees will continue to study and overcome these difficulties.

The second phase of practical training started in March. We hope that the trainees will have the opportunity to observe and practice the rehabilitation techniques and apply them in their work environment.

Prayer requests:

  1. May the staff have wisdom to integrate the new programmes into their heavy workloads. May they maintain their level of service and, at the same time, train more community rehabilitation staff.
  2. May Eva Y have the wisdom and ability to edit and revise the “Community Rehabilitation Practice Guide” to help community rehabilitation services.
