A MARVELOUS TOUCH
by Paulo L
An occupational therapist, who had participated in many of MSI’s short-term service teams, returned to Beichuan County for the first time after retiring. To the therapists and patients at the Beichuan People’s Hospital, the techniques he taught were amazing. Patients who were barely able to stand are now able to limp and walk without support. Other patients who used to be able to walk with support are now able to run slowly and walk up and down stairs.
Given the medical regulations, it is not easy for local therapists to apply the skills they have learnt, and they may not have the confidence and sufficient experience to further assess the potential of their patients. I hope that they can break through some of the existing practices for the benefit of the patients and achieve better results in therapy sessions.
We are thankful for the many professionals who have participated in MSI’s service teams in the past. They have made a great impact. May God lead more rehabilitation therapists to participate in service.
